Hello Grads and Grad parents!
We're getting closer to the big day! Just under a month to go before the big day! Here is an overview of the next couple of weeks for you and goals that I would like to try to achieve with the Grads of 2018:
1. Relay for Life-Saturday, June 9-6 pm-6 am. It would be great to see as many Vanier students as possible at this event and an amazing legacy for the Grad Class of 2018 to leave to lead it.
2. Grad Decorating Evening-Tuesday, June 12. The more Grads and Grad parents for this event, the better. We make the decorations here that will adorn the gym and Sports Centre at Grad. 4 pm-7 pm.
3. Grad Rehearsal-Wednesday, June 27 at noon. All Grads must attend! This is where we walk you through the lineup and how to enter and leave the Sports Centre
4. Grad Day-Thursday, June 28! Here is a breakdown of events for the day:
3:00-4:30 pm-Grad Car Parade-starts at the Driftwood Mall, then goes through Downtown Courtenay back to Vanier
5:15 pm-Official Grad Photo in the Multi-Purpose Room
5:30-5:45 pm-Lining up to march to Sports Centre
6:00-8:15 pm-Grad Ceremony at the Sports Centre
8:30-9:30 pm-Reception in the School Gym-Cake will be served, as well as coffee/drinks, First Dance with Grad parents
9:30-10:00 pm-Grads are bused over to Crowne Isle for After Grad
10:00 pm-2:00 am-After Grad at Crowne Isle. Here, we have a Prom/Dance set up with a DJ hired for the event, Tarot Card readings, Henna Tattoos, poker games, and other activities to comopliment excellent catered food. There's an auction at 1:30 am with tons of cool prizes. Grads MUST be picked up by a parent or guardian or designated, pre-arranged adult to leave Crowne Isle. Grads will not be permitted to check themselves out of the venue.
Thanks very much-
Greg Kochanuk, Vice Principal
