Hello again, Grads and Grad parents-
Just wanted to provide a recap of the meeting that was held this week, summarizing what we covered.
1. First, and most important!
The single most pressing item was that for our Grad Winterfest potluck next week, we have had only 22 families sign up for a food item thus far. With an estimated 600 people coming to the event, this will not work!!! Families planning on attending HAVE to contact Courtney at email@example.com by Friday to confirm an item or the school will be forced to change gears and make it a dessert and coffee evening instead. Thank you for your prompt attention to this!
2. Grad Requirements: At-Risk letters are being sent out indicating which Grads are at risk of not graduating this coming June. The necessity for all Grads (and parents) to be aware of Grad requirements-80 credits, grade 12 courses, and Government assessments. The best way to stay on top of this is to log in to the MyEd portal and always have this information at a glance. If you HAVEN'T done so already, get a MyEd login by contacting Laura-Lee Keltie in our main office at 250-338-9262 or at Laura-Lee.Keltie@sd71.bc.ca
3. Winterfest: Our first major Grad event is Wed. Dec. 5 in our school gym. Winterfest is a family potluck dinner with entertainment and a chance for families to get together, enjoy each other's company and watch a baby photo slideshow and hypnotist. WE NEED PEOPLE TO SIGN UP FOR FOOD ITEMS IMMEDIATELY IF WE WANT THIS EVEN TO PROCEED AS A POTLUCK!!! Other Winterfest items:
--This year, Winterfest is a ticketed event! Grads and parents will not be allowed into the event without a ticket. Ms. Keltie in the main office will be distributing these tickets, which are numbered and assigned to specific Grads all week long at lunch.
--I also need a baby photo of your lovely Grad by Friday, November 30 if you want it in the slideshow. Digital copies can be sent to me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and hard copies can be brought into the main office for scanning and usually same day return.
That's it for now-have a great finish to your week!
Greg Kochanuk, Vice Principal
