Important Information for Parents regarding Fridays & Course Selection


​​A few reminders from Isfeld for the week of return to school Monday, March 27th:


1. Students begin the course selection process for the 2017-2018 school year on Tuesday, March 28th. Forms should be returned to their TA teacher on or before March 31st. For those that want to look early, the course selection guide and all related forms can be found on our website www.isfeldschool.com

2. Tuesday, March 28th 6:30 -- 8:30 there will be a Parent Information Session to explain the Course Selection process for students going into Gr. 9 -- 12. This will take place in the Multipurpose Room.

3. Wednesday March 29th 6:30 -- 8:30 there will be a parent consultation meeting regarding the Alternate Instruction Week and the future of education in the Comox Valley. This will take place in the Multipurpose Room.

4. After Spring Break and moving forward the schedule for Friday will include two regular class blocks for ALL Grades and one block of differentiated instruction. Attendance, as before, is mandatory for all blocks. The scheduled classes will rotate every Friday. The schedule for Fridays will be posted after we return from Spring Break. This is the schedule for March 31st:

9:10-10:10 Block A

10:10-10:20 TA

10:20-12:10 Differentiated Instruction

12:10-1:10 Block B

April 7th will be blocks C & D with differentiated instruction in the middle.
Information Session for Parents re: Course Selection for 2017-2018


​Students will be selecting their courses for next year on March 28th in an extended homeroom.  As part of this process, parents are invited to attend an information session Tuesday, March 28th from 6:30-8:30 to find out about courses available next year, graduation requirements, and district programs available for SD71 students.  The evening will begin in the Multipurpose Room, and then break off into grade groupings.  Students will be encouraged to turn in their course selection forms to their TA teacher on or before Friday, March 31st.

The course selection guide will be online before Spring Break for parents and students to look over.

Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School is an inclusive school with almost 1,000 students from ​grades 8 through 12. We are a dual track school with English and French Immersion programs. We have an International program which allows us to host students from many countries, a vital and active Fine Arts program, a successful Athletics program with more than 30 competitive teams and a full Applied Skills program.
